I don’t think anyone in our lifetime was prepared for what happened in the last 65+ days. It has not been easy for so many people. Some people are scared, lonely, and lost. My clients and friends feel the same way. Since the first case of COVID19 was announced in our country, it has turned many lives upside down. You don’t realize the kind of change that can happen to us, until it happens.
At Matchmaker May, we’ve always set up the dates for our clients and encourage them to meet in person. For safety, we’ve been suggesting video dates and it’s been a great alternative to not going out and meeting people. On a video date, you can still see if there is chemistry based on eye contact, conversation, and learning more about the other person. With restaurants, coffee shops, and bars closed, this seems to be a great approach for singles who are still open to dating.
Many of our clients were game for this suggestion. As parks and coffee shops started opening, clients are opting for coffee and a walk or a picnic at a park. Some clients were okay holding off on dating until they felt safe to meet in person.
Video dating allows the singles to really get to know each other, without the physical pressure to kiss or hold hands too soon. When they video date, they can get to know each other on a deeper level before deciding to meet in person.
The bonus is that clients are more open to matches and the distance is not an issue, because they don’t have to drive anywhere. They can just meet someone on a video date in the comfort of their own homes. With video dating, our clients are more open to seeing someone who is not their usual type.
What do you have to lose? If you’re tired of being single and want to meet someone, at least try video dating. It’s a better alternative than sitting at home watching a movie solo and not having any stimulating conversation with anyone. Don’t forget to treat the video date like it’s a real date. Get dressed up, make sure the lighting is good, and have a drink in your hand. No one was prepared for what was going to happen during COVID19 and maybe video dating might surprise you, too!
